Hainbuch develops automated clamping head change station

When Hainbuch wanted to come up with automation that could be executed independently by the machine operator, the solution was its ‘automated clamping head change station’.

In the case of an inverted spindle vertical lathe, the spindle/chuck passes over the automated clamping head change station, settling over a combination of clamping head and end-stop to be changed, with this swapped within seconds by a pneumatic pulse. The workpiece to be clamped is then grabbed from the next changing station and clamped. Thanks to this design, there is no need for any additional automation, says Hainbuch.

However, the solution is suitable for a variety of machine tools because the changing station can be installed directly beside an industrial robot or gantry.
