Guhring unveils multiple developments

Following AMB Stuttgart, tooling expert Guhring has unleashed a volley of product introductions, covering milling, drilling, deep hole drilling, shrink-fit toolholding, tool management/dispensing and CV joint ball track machining.

The new TSG 3000 shrink-fit chucks offer highest accuracy and operational safety. Thanks to innovative solutions for length adjustment and balancing, TSG 3000 shrink fit chucks offer perfect concentricity and optimal running smoothness. And a clearly visible optical temperature indicator warns the user of possible burning risk from a hot chuck. Another improvement is the addition of an axial adjustment screw. When shrink fitting, the heating and subsequent cooling of the chuck and tool not only causes the desired radial shrinking, but also unwanted axial shrinking. If the clamped tool is sitting on the setting screw, it can result in small inaccuracies in tool concentricity with conventional solutions. Guhring's length setting screw, with axial damping, completely offsets this axial length difference through the integrated, flexible compensating element. On balancing, thanks to six balancing holes (in contrast to the typical four), any can be compensated to pinpoint accuracy, with simplicity and in close proximity. The RT 100 VA drill for the machining of stainless steels enables the machining of these difficult-to-machine materials at highest cutting rates and tool life, presenting an entirely new opportunity for the economic machining of stainless steels. RT 100 VA achieves exceptional efficiency, thanks to its specially developed carbide, the wear-resistant TiAlN nanoA coating and its geometry. A tap for high-tensile steels, cast iron and AlSi-alloys for thread sizes from M16 to M39 and aimed at manufacturers of transmissions, turbines and power plants, for example, and who require especially large threads is now offered. As a special solution, Guhring also offers taps and fluteless taps as part of a semi-standard range on short delivery times and at attractive prices. This includes taps up to a length of 400 mm or fluteless taps for thread sizes M16 to M39 to customer specifications, with application-oriented coating. A new version of the solid carbide single-fluted gun drill EB 100 has a solid carbide shank and conical shank end, as well as TiAlN nanoA-coating, making it suitable for almost all materials and especially for MQL. The new EB 100 is available for drilling depths 25xD, 50xD and 75xD, and in the diameter range from 1 to a maximum 12 mm, in the standard range. Spiral-fluted RT 100 T standard range deep hole drills up to 40xD are now offered for depths up to 15xD. The user has the benefit of a high performance tool for machining with highest cutting rates, but also benefits from cost-efficient tooling, due to a standard range tool, instead of expensive special solutions. As a special solution a design is also available for the machining of aluminium. An extension to the RF 100 range of high performance end mills sees the inclusion of special units for particular materials, such as the RF 100 Ti for titanium and titanium-alloys, as well as roughing cutters within the RF 100 range. Guhring's interchangeable insert drilling system, HT 800 WP, is extended with the addition VA interchangeable insert for stainless steels. Five different interchangeable inserts for a large variety of materials, as well as six different holders from centring/countersinking holder up to holder 10xD for all standard drilling depths, provide the ideal combination of holder and interchangeable insert for any machining task. GU 500 DZ HSCO drills are to be supplied as long series drills to DIN 340, as part of the SuperLine range. The GU 500 DZ drill is available in stub, jobber or long series, from 1.0 to 14.0 mm diameter, either as bright finish or TiN-coated, and is suitable for the machining of almost all materials. The GU 500 DZ machines non-ferrous metals, structural and carbon steels, high-alloyed steels, tool steels, cast iron and cast-alloys, magnesium-alloys, plastics as well as aluminium, all with a single drill. With its modified 4-facet point geometry and special web thinning, the GU 500 DZ ensures low torque and smooth running. This has an especially positive effect on the dimensional accuracy of the holes. In addition, it is equipped with circular flute geometry and can optimally evacuate even long chips from tough materials. Guhring's new front/back de-burrer, EW 100 VR, is available as a standard tool, alongside the de-burring fork, EW 100 G, and the de-burring spiral, EW 100 S. EW 100 VR with TiAlN-coating enables de-burring, as well as the chamfering, of hole entry and exit, with a 90° angle. It features a milling head with front and back cutting region. For de-burring or chamfering, the tool performs a circular milling movement along the hole edge or contour. A new tool dispensing system, TM 526, optimises tool storage and management. For a low start-up cost, it provides 100 per cent control of stocked tools and products. With a combination of drawer widths and heights, the modular system can be adapted to suit a variety of requirements. PCBN ball track milling cutters for hard machining and solid carbide or carbide tipped ball track milling cutters for soft machining are now available. They are the perfect solution for the machining of constant velocity joints to highest quality, offering short machining time, as well as attractive price.
