GF AgieCharmilles introduces budget-conscious Form 20 and Form 30 EDM die sink machines

GF AgieCharmilles' latest Form 20 and Form 30 EDM die-sink machines are described as attractively priced yet fast, accurate and versatile. The machines have a rigid design and cross-table configuration, and are equipped with linear glass scales (on all axes) for life-long positional accuracy.

The AgieCharmilles Form 20 and Form 30 machines feature an integrated C-axis for machining of contours, curved recesses and undercuts. To increase manufacturing flexibility and to widen the scope of their application, both can be supplied with the company's proprietary GammaTec technology to help achieve shiny 'polished' surface finishes on large workpieces. The inclusion of a SF (surface finish) module ensures that a surface finish requirement of Ra 0.1 µm can be met. The machines also boast IQ technology, previously only available on higher spec GF AgieCharmilles die-sink machines. This virtually eliminates electrode wear, says the company, and, as a consequence, helps to reduce the time, cost and effort associated with machining new and/or replacement copper or graphite electrodes. On the ease of use front, Techform technology enables users to select (at the push of a few buttons on the control) the optimum 'pre-set' parameters and settings for their machining requirements. The machines both feature icon-driven AC Form HMI CNC control. Linear tool changers are available as an option for unattended and lights-out operations.
