Geo Kingsbury releases Index SpeedLine ABC ‘value package’

With more than 2,500 Index SpeedLine ABC turning centres in use worldwide, the machine's German manufacturer is now offering a version that it describes as a ‘value package’, with this fitted with a Fanuc 31iB control instead of Index's own Siemens-based C200 CNC system. The package is available in the UK from Geo Kingsbury Machine Tools.

Due to the less costly control and omission of optional extras, the machine's price is significantly lower. It is expected to prove popular with budget-conscious manufacturers, as well as OEMs and subcontractors that have already standardised on Fanuc controls.

The Fanuc 31iB control with 10.4" colour screen and electric handwheel is compatible with both online and offline programming. Index-specific cycles include switching between metalcutting and sub-spindle functions using the single upper turret drive, as well as synchronising the spindles during component pick-up. Functions like polygon turning, thread milling and a dual check safety system are also included.
