Freddy centrifuge system filters to 3 micron

Freddy Products' new Centrifuge system is for the re-cycling of oil, coolant and a multitude of additional fluids.

The Freddy Centrifuge delivers particle filtration down to 3 microns – a purification level said to be beyond the capabilities of alternate systems. This prevents swarf and dust particles returning to the work envelope, which cannot be guaranteed by competitor product, says Freddy. Ineffective filtration and the return of waste particles to the work area can be detrimental to surface finishes, tool life, machine service cycles and, most importantly, the health and safety of machine operators. The Freddy Centrifuge is available with the option of a single or double centrifuge for increased throughput. It has been specifically developed for a diverse range of machine tools where highest quality surface finishes and tightest machining tolerances are a demanded. The low maintenance system can be cleaned by quickly removing a rotor liner, cleaning the liner and re-installing it. This already rapid maintenance cycle can be improved upon by means of a spare rotor liner, enabling the machine operator to remove the dirty liner and clean it when convenient. The frequency of emptying the liner depends upon stock removal rates and machine running time. However, the flexible rotor liner can collect foreign matter up to a capacity of 4000 cc. This allows the collection of up to 23 kg of waste, depending upon the nature of the material. A range of options is available, such as a heating element that can be integrated for the heating of oils. This has been designed for customers using mineral oils with a thinner viscosity. Additionally, it can be used to thin alternate oils, thus improving the removal rate of effluent from the cutting oil. As the centrifuge rotates at up to 3000 rpm, Freddy Products has fitted a solid-state braking system that combines with a lid interlock fitted as standard – guaranteeing complete operator safety. For the use of more aggressive and corrosive fluids, Freddy offers a centrifuge liner manufactured in Viton. For paraffin based fluids commonly used in honing operations and which emit potentially dangerous fumes when disturbed, centrifuges with seals and a condenser can be supplied to overcome the issue. The flexible units can be supplied on a trolley with wheels to enable the end user to move the centrifuge from machine to machine. A single bowl centrifuge weighs 125 kg and has a footprint of 560 by 610 by 680 mm (HXWXD), while the twin bowl weighs 220 kg and has a footprint of 560 by 965 by 755 mm.
