Face milling cutter draws low power; is quiet

CoroMill 345 is claimed to bring a new dimension to multi-edge face milling, offering bringing low power consumption and low noise levels during machining, and is suited to all types of machine tools, from small low-powered ISO 30 machines to large high, powered 50 ISO machining centres and multi-task machines. The cutters are available in diameters 40 – 250 mm with various pitch options.

CoroMill 345 is described as an advanced tool concept; ideal for small-batch mixed machining through to high-volume dedicated parts. Designed primarily for high performance face milling with smaller depths of cut across a range of materials, its versatility and far-reaching optimization possibilities makes it also suitable to use in demanding roughing operations up to 6 mm deep, down to mirror-finishing operations using wiper inserts. With the additional pitch alternative (HX), CoroMill 345 will increase the metal removal capability even further by having more teeth in cut. It is equipped with double-sided inserts giving eight edges. Shims with strategic support island matching the insert rake-faces provide full cutting edge backing and insert-seat stability. The positive axial inclination at small depths of cut offers a soft cutting action with low axial pressure reducing cutting forces within the work piece. The more upright part of the edge comes successively into action as the depth of cut increases, giving the insert a more substantial structure for increased security, especially in the tougher application areas.
