Engis diamond dressing blocks turn standard surface grinder into automatic form grinder

Engis offers a solution to subcontractors who would like to enter the competitive market for aero engine turbine blade and root repair but who do not want the costs associated with rotary diamond dressing rolls.

The specialist abrasives supplier says turbine roots can be ground very accurately and to tight tolerances on standard surface grinding machines using conventional grinding wheels dressed with Engis micronised diamond blocks. Engis micronised diamond blocks can be held magnetically or mechanically on the machine table, or mounted within a part holding fixture. By setting the block at the finished ground height and adjusting the reciprocating stroke length, it will continually dress the wheel as the part approaches its finished form and height. Once the wheel has been freshly dressed, the workpiece can be accurately ground to meet size and surface finishing requirements.
