EMAG VL8 targets commercial vehicle turning operations

The VL8 vertical pick-up turning machine from EMAG is pitched at the machining of workpieces up to 400 mm in diameter found commonly in the production of commercial vehicles.

The machine is designed for handling large components where a number of different turning and milling operations are performed within the framework of a single, close-loop production process. Integrated automation and short idle times provide the required speed, while a vertical layout negates chip flow problems. Constituent components include: • A machine base made from Mineralit polymer concrete for vibration resistant processes. • A machine base front that features a compound slide carrying the vertical main spindle which traverses the Z and X axes. • A chuck diameter of 500 mm. • A main spindle with 60 kW rating, a torque of up to 1,220 Nm and speeds up to 2,850 rpm. • A turret that accommodates 12 turning or (optionally) 12 driven drilling and milling tools.
