Edgecam writes post processors for Haas 3-axis milling machines

Edgecam has created a library of 33 post processors supporting the Haas VF series of 3-axis milling machines.

Post processors are typically written on an as-needed basis to meet a customer's specific requirements and, therefore, may not support all machine functions. The Edgecam Haas post processors have been written in consultation with Haas and aim to support all functions of the machine. In addition to the post processor, Edgecam provides machine graphics for simulation purposes for each post, assisting the programmer to visualise the machining process and avoid collisions. Using a post processor in Edgecam is a menu choice. The user simply hits the button and it produces code for the machine. As post processors form the critical link in sending NC code to the machine in a format it can read, the machine simply will not work properly if the post is not right. It may not accept the code from the outset, or may stop running in the middle of a program. In a worst case, there could be a collision, damaging the part or the machine. By developing these post processors in consultation with Haas, Edgecam aims to reduce such potential problems.
