DST introduces EcoSpeed 20210 and EcoSpeed F1040 parallel kinematics machines

The EcoSpeed 20210 and EcoSpeed F1040 have been introduced by Starrag group company Dörries Scharmann Technologie (DST). These are the latest representatives of its modular patented parallel drive concept machining centres, originally developed for DaimlerChrysler Aerospace for machining large aluminium structural components from solid metal.

The EcoSpeed 20210, a column milling machine, has X and Y travels of 21,800 and 2,200 mm respectively with an integrated pallet change facility for loading parallel to the main processing time. Typical applications will include wing panelling and stringers. The EcoSpeed F 1040 features a stationary cross-beam and can handle up to 1,000 by 4,000 mm pallets and is targeted at machining narrow wing ribs. All machines in the EcoSpeed range feature 120 kW, 30,000 rpm, 83 Nm motor spindles and have the option of a C-axis, allowing the use of automatic interchangeable angular milling heads. DST reports that over 70 EcoSpeed machines have been built since they were introduced 13 years ago.
