Dorman releases Haas high frequency grinding spindles
Multigrind type CB and CA grinding machines from Haas Schleifmaschinen are now available with a high frequency spindle. Supplied in the UK by Dorman Machine Tools, the spindle motor has a 21 kW output with a constant torque of 20.1 Nm at rated speed. The spindle is water-cooled and features an HSK 50 interface. Instead of oil mist, it is lubricated with an oil-air mixture and each individual bearing is supplied with the correct quantity of oil.
According to Haas, the innovative feature of the spindle is its high torque plus high bearing rigidity in the lower speed range, in combination with a maximum speed of 35,000 rpm. This means that large grinding wheels with diameters of 250 mm can be used for machining exterior surfaces and small grinding pencils with diameters of 5 mm can be used for interior surfaces. Previously, users had to alternate between two spindles.
