Delcam launches ‘significant’ Partmaker CAM 2013 release

Delcam describes the 2013 release of its PartMaker CAM software as "probably the most significant yet in the product's long history".

Delcam has totally revamped the surface milling module in PartMaker CAM 2013. The software's Advanced Surface Machining (ASM) functionality is now based on the same technology and algorithms as those that underpin the company's PowerMill CAM system for 5-axis and high speed machining. It will, for example, enable faster toolpath calculation, greater tool control and improved surface finishes. The ASM module features a wide variety of high-end milling strategies that can be applied across the entire suite of PartMaker CAM applications, including PartMaker Mill, PartMaker Turn-Mill and PartMaker SwissCAM. It replaces PartMaker's Surface Machining Wizard module for surface machining of free-form shapes. For existing PartMaker users, the ASM upgrade will be provided cost free and the transition will, assures Delcam, be very easy to make. PartMaker 2013 also features a sleeker, restyled user interface while retaining its traditional workflow ease of use to avoid unnecessary relearning. Headlining the improvements is the Job Explorer tree, which makes navigating machining-function windows and part features faster. Additionally, a number of controls have been added to the software to make working even more intuitive. Also, a number of diagrams in the software have been recast and revamped to give the program a fresh look.
