Cutwel introduces Italian Gerardi vices suitable for one set-up 5-axis machining

Cutwel has introduced a range of high quality precision vices from Italian manufacturer Gerardi. The multi-tasking, self-centring or eccentric vices allow simultaneous 5-axis machining in one set-up without special fixtures or work holding systems, even when complex profiles and awkward-to-reach deep cavities are involved.

The Gerardi vices are constructed from high grade quality steel, case hardened to HRc 60 ±2 for rigidity and robustness and offer a repeatability to 0.02 mm. The vices have a low clamping profile with precision ground base jaw serrations to ensure that high gripping forces are achievable for accurate and secure workpiece holding for high tolerance machining of components. Jaws are interchangeable which allows machineable soft jaws to be used to accommodate specific complex shapes. Each vice has a H7 tolerance location bore and slot for accurate mounting to any machine table, pallet, indexer or rotary table. Alternatively, the vices can be mounted in standard 3 or 4 jaw chucks.
