Cost per hole lower with Kennametal’s GOdrill

Designed as a versatile and cost effective tool for micro-drilling, GOdrill is works with multiple materials in multiple applications, says Kennametal. The tool is for holes in the range of 1.0 to 12.7 mm diameter and features high-end material grades, a wear indicator coating and newly developed geometries.

GOdrill qualifies as a cost effective, throwaway-type, solid carbide micro-drill. The proprietary margin-less design is said to reduce friction and heat, while its straight cutting lip with protection chamfer allows no starting point for wear and an even distribution of cutting forces that results in longer tool life. Built on Kennametal´s KC7325 solid carbide grade, GOdrill also features a multi-layer TiAlN-based coating for high hot hardness. This enables high cutting speeds, even in minimum quantity lubrication (MQL) applications, says the company. A second TiN top layer serves as a visual wear indicator. GOdrills are available in solid (flood coolant) or through-coolant variants.
