CoroMill 490 shoulder mill

CoroMill 490 shoulder mill - ideal for applications like near net shape precision forgings and castings

CoroMill 490, the first of a new generation of shoulder mills, is a high precision tool for the production of a very high quality finish with minimum passes making it ideal for applications such as near net shape precision forgings and castings where less, but more precise work is required. This is made possible with the four edge insert design of CoroMill 490 and it substantially reduces the cost per component for customers. CoroMill 490 is so precise that it can produce a finished product in as little as one pass. The maximum depth of cut is 5.5 mm with 4 mm the optimum recommended. CoroMill 490 offers more productivity gains and its versatility allows customers to use it as their standard face milling tool, replacing multiple tool stocks and simplifying production control. It can also be used for contouring and edging, without mismatch, and for slot milling. Cutting is light and quiet with low cutting forces on the four edge inserts. This is achieved through high positive rake and axial angles for smooth entry to the material as well as an innovative insert geometry and new grades. The new geometry of the parallel land gives excellent face surfaces and shoulders. The inserts have sharp edge lines and produce cuts with smooth, burr-free profiles, making the CoroMill 490 the first mill with a true 90 degree square shoulder cut without sharp steps and no discernable cusp on a smooth surface (cusp height is 0.03mm).
