A liquid lens accessory is now available as an upgrade for any Cognex DataMan 300 series fixed-mount barcode reader. It is aimed at applications that require a large depth of field or when refocusing becomes necessary following a product changeover.
The Cognex DataMan 300 intelligent tuning feature automatically selects the optimum settings for the integrated lighting and autofocus optics for each application. This tuning process ensures that the barcode reader will be set up to attain the highest read rates possible for 1D, 2D and direct part-marked (DPM) codes. The liquid lens can also be adjusted with software or serial commands without having to touch the reader.
For presentation reading, tote scanning and small-package sorting applications, the liquid lens can be configured to sweep through the full focal range of the optics to find and read barcodes over a wide range of working distances.
DataMan 300 and DataMan 302 have pixel resolutions of 800 by 600 and 1,280 by 1,024 respectively – the latter model being the appropriate choice for reading the very small DPM codes often used in the automotive and electronics industries.
Dataman readers use 1DMax+ with Hotbars advanced code reading technology for locating and extracting code data, or 2DMax+ for the superior performance required for damaged or poorly marked 2D codes on both stationary and high speed lines.
