CBN cutting inserts with laser cut chipbreaker

Lach Diamant is offering an alternative to its CBN cutting insert, Duo-power, for finish turning of hardened steels and cast iron, its CO with a laser-cut chipbreaker. This development is based on the PCD chipbreaker programme for the machining of aluminium. ‘CBN-power’ grade B600 with chipbreaker type CO is recommended for the cutting of high alloy, quenched and tempered and hardened steels – especially medium hardness – for a burr free, interrupted and continuous cut. Another application for the grade B600 is the processing of components such as gear boxes and rollings made of cast iron. The CBN-power grade B610 is suggested for tool and case-hardened steels for burr free cutting of thin and especially unstable elements even with variable hardness. CBN ‘Duo-power’ cutting inserts with chipbreaker are also ground and polished just like the PCD cutting inserts with chipbreaker for aluminium cutting.
