Brother 5-axis mill-turn model M140X2 has high speed control and direct drive, 2,000 rpm table

An evolution of the M140X1, the Brother 5-axis mill-turn model M140X2 features the new high speed C-00 control and fully integrated direct drive table.

With X-, Y- and Z-axis travels of 200, 440 and 305 mm, respectively, and a 300 by 300 (diameter, height) part/fixture envelope, spindle speed is 10,000 rpm as standard (16,000 rpm as an option) from the BT30 Big Plus spindle system, with power and torque maximum figures of 18.9 kW and 40 Nm. A-axis movement via roller drive for zero backlash is 120°/-30°, while the direct drive C-axis table turns at up to 2,000 rpm, driven by a motor that offers 8.7 kW and 55 Nm.

Other features are: high speed, 1.4 sec chip-to-chip, 22-place automatic toolchanger; 0.2 sec start/stop main spindle speed; 0.3 sec start/stop rotary table speed; 50 m/min rapids; and through spindle coolant.
