Bison-Bial chucks measure up to oil country dimensions

Leader Chuck Systems extensive range of oil country chucks from Polish workholding manufacturer Bison-Bial provides a solution for manufacturers turning long, large diameter pipes.

The cast iron bodied type Bison-Bial 3295 three-jaw self-centring chuck comes in 400, 500, 560 and 800 mm dia, with the ability to hold parts from 168 up to 566 dia with through bore size from 381 to 620 mm dia. Maximum operational speeds range from 500 down to 200 rpm for the largest chuck. The steel bodied Bison-Bial type 3597 provides higher gripping forces and can withstand increased machining forces. This allows the chuck to operate at between 2,500 and 700 rpm for the 315 and 800 mm dia chucks respectively. Through bore diameters range from 145 to 460 mm. Also with a steel body, the heavy duty Bison-Bial type 3515HD range supports through-hole, face and internal fixturing for all turning applications. It is available in 400, 500, 630 and 800 mm diameters. The chucks can hold parts between 25 and 800 mm dia. The range caters for maximum through bores from 103 to 320 mm dia. Gripping force is 6,200 daN for the smallest chuck; up to 9,000 daN for the largest. Maximum operating speeds are 1,400 and 600 rpm respectively. Bison-Bial three-jaw self-centring chucks can work individually or in pairs, mounted on opposite sides of the lathe spindle, ensuring the same vertical position of the jaws in both chucks. This allows the accurate turning of very long components such as pipes. Heavy duty four-jaw Bison-Bial independent chucks feature forged steel bodies and can also be used individually or in pairs. They allow high gripping forces and accurate turning of very long components, flanges, valve bodies and long prismatic parts. Bison-Bial type 4317 HD four-jaw chuck can hold parts between 45 and 1,250 mm dia with a gripping force of up to 5,000 daN per jaw. Through bores go from 136 mm dia for the 415 mm dia model up to 530 mm dia for the 1 m dia version. Type 4347 HD four-jaw chuck provides a high precision workholding solution for manufacturers that require increased gripping accuracy to generate tight tolerance parts. Available in 415, 500 or 710 mm dia models, the chucks can accurately hold parts between 45 and 710 mm dia. Maximum through bore size is from 136 to 192 mm dia. The 1,000 or 1,250 mm dia 4307 HD has a gripping range between 50 and 1,250 mm dia and a 200 mm dia through-hole on both sizes.
