Big Kaiser’s MW boring head available from ITC

Industrial Tooling Corporation (ITC) has extended its line of holemaking products with the introduction of the MW boring head from Big Kaiser. The unit is a straight shank, indexable rough boring tool for machining small diameters from 16 to 21 mm.

Based on Big Kaiser's existing 319 SW series, the MW boring head is a twin-cutter boring tool that can quickly remove large quantities of material, as compared to single cutter tools. The MW's two cutting edges can be pre-set independently to the required diameter to a tolerance of 0.2 mm.

ITC says the MW boring head is suited to the semi-finish or finish-boring of workpieces with die-cast holes. In aluminium, cutting speeds of up to 280 m/min are claimed, with a feed rate of 0.3 mm/rev and a cutting depth of 4 mm. A spiral groove is deployed to improve chip evacuation.
