Ajax wraps up Evolution 3 series lathe in tempting package

European-built Ajax Evolution 3 series CNC lathes comprise six machine capacities, starting with a swing over bed of 360 mm, a centre height of 180 mm and 750 mm between centres. This machine, with Fanuc touch screen control and a 24-month warranty comes in at £21,200, while a 1,000 mm bed length version is £21,550.
The specification package for the Ajax Evolution 3 series includes an automatic eight-station turret, tailstock, automatic speed range change and Fanuc drives to match the Fanuc OiTD Mate touch screen control with Turnmate i software. With ISO programming and RS 232 communication port the machine can also be used in manual cycle mode through the electronic hand wheel.
The machines are built on heavy duty beds, each with hardened and ground ways, and spans centre heights from 180 mm on the Evolution 3 AJEV 180 to 500 mm on the largest AJEV 500. Bed widths and lengths are available according to model between 250 mm by 750 mm to 500 mm by 5,000 mm. The largest machine in the series weighs in at 10 tonnes.
Main drive motors are rated at 7.5 kW, 4,000 rpm for the AJEV 180 to 22 kW, 1,400 rpm on the AJEV 500, with constant surface speed as standard. Spindle bores range from 42 to 130 mm and tailstock diameter/strokes from 58 by 180 mm to 120 by 300 mm.
A large range of options includes BOB CAD DNC Windows communication software and CAM, plus travelling and fixed steadies, a range of high quality chucks and as tooling sets.
