ABB upgrades IRB 1600 robot to 10 kg payload capability
ABB Robotics has released an upgrade of its best-selling IRB 1600 robot for use in applications ranging from machine tending and material handling, through to arc welding and cutting. The 10 kg payload unit is available in a 1.45 m reach variant and, for greater dexterity in confined spaces, a 1.2 m reach variant

The IRB 1600 boasts second generation QuickMove motion control and low friction spur gears for fast cycle times, while TrueMove technology and a stiff design support path accuracy even at high speeds, says ABB.
The upgrade improves upon the IRB 1600's other existing advantages, such as protection for use in harsh environments (IP 67 and Foundry Plus 2) and total mounting flexibility.
