ABB IRB 6660FX 7-axis press transfer solution eliminates rotation-generated vibration

ABB's latest tandem press line solution, the IRB 6660FX, is a rapid and flexible transfer system for medium-sized parts. Identical in design to ABB's IRB 7600FX large part transfer system, it is suitable for both new and existing press lines. A dual action unit integrated into the IRB 6660 creates a 7-axis robot, which allows medium-sized parts to be transferred rapidly along a linear path. This eliminates vibrations associated with parts being rotated 180° by a 6-axis robot.

The ABB's IRB 6660FX is also equipped with integrated dynamic model control to co-ordinate all seven axes for optimum speed, accuracy and durability.?In new press lines, says ABB Robotics, this means that inter-press distances can be reduced as parts are transferred without having to be rotated.? The IRB 6660FX runs on StampWare, ABB's proven proprietary software package, which is designed to facilitate interaction between operator and press cell. Available on the robot FlexPendant, it includes a graphical programming wizard enabling operators to program the robots without having to master the programming language.
