50% time gains with Missler VoluMill from MCL CADCAM
Missler has integrated VoluMill machining strategies into TopSolid'Cam 7.8 to offer its customers what it describes as the best algorithms on the market for toolpath calculation. The solution is available in the UK from MCL CADCAM.
VoluMill toolpaths use smooth, flowing motion to eliminate sharp directional changes and variances in tool load. According to Missler, using VoluMill in place of traditional roughing routines will reduce cycle times, extend the life of cutting tools and place considerably less stress on machine tools.
Based on a desire to obtain a constant volume of chips, Volumill offers an alternative to conventional roughing strategies. It enables the operator to increase axial depths of cut and speeds while reducing vibration. Depending on the material and topology in question, Missler has observed significant time gains in machining operations, up to 70% in best cases.
