XYZ Machine Tools celebrates 30 years with May Open House

XYZ Machine Tools is hosting a 30th anniversary Open House at its Burlescombe, Devon headquarters on 1 and 2 May.

Says managing director Nigel Atherton: "We wanted to host this event as close to the original date that XYZ Machine Tools was formed, and as it falls on a Thursday and Friday it will allow visitors coming from further afield to take advantage of the Devon countryside and maybe make a weekend of their trip. "We will have a large number of machines available for demonstration in our newly refurbished showroom and visitors will also be able to see first-hand the large number of machines that we keep in stock, alongside our extensive stores of spare parts for every one of the 20,000 machine we have ever sold." The company highlights that the event is an opportunity for those that couldn't attend MACH 2014 at the National Exhibition centre during April to see the full range of XYZ machines, from manual lathes through to 5-axis machining centres, including the brand new XYZ 2op machining centre. Doors open at 8:00 am on each day of the Open House, with bacon rolls available to kick-off proceedings and a buffet lunch and celebration birthday cake shared from midday. To allow catering planning, those wishing to attend are asked to register by going to the XYZ Machine Tools website - www.xyzmachinetools.com - and indicating which day they plan to visit, with this also conferring free entry into a draw to win one of four London weekend theatre breaks for two people. Cutting tool company WNT will be supporting the event, with all visitors who pre-register and purchase tools in WNT's 'Open Day Deal' will walk away with a Mitutoyo digital vernier caliper and the opportunity to double their spending power. "As with our own Open Houses, for any customer that orders a minimum of £150 worth of tooling on the day, we will give them a further £150 of tooling free of charge. We will also have our Technical Sales Engineers on hand to answer any questions that visitors may have about tooling and workholding, and we will be happy to look at individual drawings or components to advise on the best machining strategies," explains Tony Pennington, managing director, WNT (UK). Key demonstrations will highlight the performance gains that can be achieved using WNT's MCR Monstermill solid carbide milling cutters in combination with Delcam's Vortex milling strategy. This has been shown to reduce milling cycle times by as much as 50% while also improving tool life. Workholding products such as the MNG Zero Point system that will additionallybe on show at the event.
