WNT(UK)'s Open House on the 20 and 21 March in Sheffield will provide visitors from industry and the education sector with the opportunity to see the latest cutting tools in live demonstrations, emphasising the productivity benefits of using the latest technology.

WNT (UK) will use its open house to show how new developments in cutting tool technology can make major improvements in productivity, using the range of XYZ Machine Tools at its disposal within its recently opened recently opened showroom and technology centre. Visitors will have the opportunity to discuss, in detail, their specific machining requirements, review how they manage their cutting tool stocks, and get a sneak preview of some of the technology that WNT unveil at MACH 2012. Key products that will be demonstrated include SCR Monstermill and HCN2125. The SCR Monstermill solid carbide end-mills have proved highly effective for high performance cutting applications on steel and cast iron components with hardness values up to 70 HRC. In these applications, typical productivity gains are in the order of 25%, when compared to existing solid carbide end mills. For turning applications, WNT's HCN 2125 carbide grade is solving the age-old problem of poor tool life when machining stainless steel materials. With toolife increased by as much as 50%, these turning inserts are proving highly cost-effective. In addition to industry visitors WNT, in partnership with XYZ Machine Tools, is extending an open invitation to teachers and lecturers with responsibility for engineering, as they recognise the importance of enthusing the next generation of engineers. This year will see a number of initiatives between the two companies who will be working alongside educational establishments to ensure that students are aware of, and can take advantage of, the latest in cutting and machine tool technology. "This open house will be the first of several that we will jointly host with XYZ Machine Tools during 2012 at our Sheffield showroom and technology centre," says Tony Pennington, managing director, WNT (UK). "This year will see many new developments from WNT and these events will provide a perfect showcase for them, with the added advantage of being able to put tools through their paces to clearly demonstrate the advantages that WNT has to offer."
