Walter expands Kurim factory site

Grinding machine manufacturer Walter is investing €6 billion to expand its machine production facility in Kurim, Czech Republic, to meet growth in manufacturing requirements for Walter tool grinders and CNC measuring machines, as well as machines from the United Grinding Group.

The assembly area will be expanded by 2,000 m² and a new 650 m² despatch hall will be built.

Walter had previously invested approximately €8 million in 2014 to expand the machining department with the installation of a new pallet automation system and new machining centres, plus modern offices, for example.

Kurim has been building machines for Walter Maschinenbau since 1966. Initially, the focus was on the production of Walter tool grinders but this was quickly added to by the range of CNC measuring machines. With the integration into the United Grinding Group of Körber, further machines from the group’s grinding portfolio now complement the range of machines produced there.
