Unicut's £1million production cell

Welwyn Garden City-based subcontract manufacturer, Unicut Precision, will be showcasing the theme of 'Infinite Engineering Solutions' on Stand 5592, Hall 5 at MACH 2014 (Birmingham NEC, 7-11 April).

This years' theme has been inspired by a recent five-year contract the company has secured with a global OEM. To win the contract, Unicut has developed a specific 'focus factory' and invested £1 million in machine tools, a new plating plant and six additional staff. A common thread among OEMs is the rationalisation and streamlining of suppliers and purchasing to improve the supply chain while enhancing quality levels. It is the demonstration of how Unicut has supported this OEM philosophy as well as retained its service levels with smaller customers that has inspired the 'Infinite Engineering Solutions' theme for MACH. The most recent investment at Unicut is part of a continued programme of technology acquisitions. The company can now boast over 20 CNC sliding head turning centres, CNC mill-turn centres and now multi-spindle turning centres for high volume production. The Unicut stand at MACH 2014 will highlight the machining capabilities of the company with a number of display parts and assemblies on show. Unicut has invested heavily in its machine shop facility with the recent addition of the £1 million dedicated production cell as well as component cleaning systems, bespoke swarf and coolant cleaning and recycling plant, as well as a dedicated dispatch department. The service on show at MACH will highlight product design for manufacture, low to high volume production of simple to complex parts, dedicated manufacturing cells and a full assembly service and component packaging service. All this is underpinned by SPC quality systems and Kanban and JIT delivery schedules.
