Sub-contractor Unicut Precision is to take over the sub-contract component production of Target Precision.

The agreement will enable Target to focus on expanding its successful development and manufacture of championship darts, which has progressed to become a core operation as a global business, demanding focus from the Target management team. Said Jason Nicholson and Charles Kenny, joint directors of Unicut Precision based in Welwyn Garden City: “We have worked in close partnership with Target Precision over the last 12 months as they are based in nearby Harlow and, like us, are avid users of Citizen CNC sliding-head lathes.” Garry Plummer, managing director of Target Precision added: “Over the years, both Unicut and my company have developed and grown in the sub-contract industry, having similar objectives. However, the championship darts side has become a truly international business and as a result is demanding in terms of covering its rapid expansion especially in the Far East and Asia. So we have reached an agreement with Unicut to continue our precision machining from Welwyn Garden City.” Unicut Precision has expanded on the back of its investment policy over the past decade and now has some 25 citizen CNC sliding-head lathes, a 64 mm capacity Miyano ABX-64 and two BNJ-42J turn-mill centres. Customers are from a wide spread of industries and some 40 per cent of parts produced are exported to America, Canada, Germany and Malta. Over the next 12 months, some £750,000 has been committed to future machine tool and process improvement which will allow previous components produced by Target Precision for its customer base to be integrated into Unicut’s order schedule.
