The latest turning centre and machining centre technology from Mazak, the Worcester-based machine tool builder, will be on display at Southern Manufacturing.

Yamazaki Mazak will be showing their brand new 2-axis and 3-axis turning centre series, Quick Turn SMART 200, as well as their Vertical Centre Nexus 510C-II machining centre. The event on 10-11th February, at the FIVE exhibition centre in Farnborough, will provide a first opportunity for many manufacturing companies to see these machining and turning centres. The Mazak QT SMART turning centre series includes four models, with the Quick Turn SMART 200 and 250 turning centres, offering 350 mm machining diameter, and the Quick Turn SMART 300 and 350 turning centres, with 420 mm maximum machining diameter and up to 102 mm in bar diameter. Central to the development of QT SMART is the new MAZATROL SMART control system, which is designed purely with two-axis turning and three-axis milling in mind. The Vertical Centre Nexus 510C-II machining centre features a 18.5 kW, 12,000 rpm, AC integral motor spindle motor, rapid traverse rates of 36 m/min in all axes, and a table dimension of 1,300 mm by 550 mm. It forms part of Mazak's Nexus machining centre series. "Southern Manufacturing has been very successful for Mazak in recent years and, with the high concentration of advanced manufacturing companies within the show's catchment area, we are confident that 2010 will deliver a similar positive response, especially with the new technology that we will have on display," says Tony Saunders, Yamazaki Mazak's Sales Director.
