The new walk-in service will initially be offered at Thorite branches in Brierley Hill, in the West Midlands and Huddersfield, West Yorkshire.
A fully qualified hose technician with British Fluid Power Association (BFPA) accreditation will be available at each branch to assemble hoses, from ¼” to 1”, including two-wire compact hose, of any length, while the customer waits.
The bespoke hose assembly service will also be available on a next-day basis for batch orders, subject to part availability.
Thorite will assemble, clean and tag the hose to pattern and customers will also be able to pick up hydraulic oils, hose protection such as anti-burst sleeving, and sorbent products at the counter.
Stephen Wright, Managing Director of Bradford-based Thorite, said: “This service aims to make hose replacement quick and convenient for our customers. Rather than wait for an on-site visit when a hose fails, they will be able to simply walk into our trade depot, confident that in most instances they will be supplied with a new hydraulic hose which meets industry standards, while they wait.
“This new service will not only reduce downtime, it will also deliver a guarantee of quality and full traceability of parts.
“We are currently in the process of a £200,000 refurbishment programme of our ten branches and this is another important step in our drive to provide an unparalleled service to Thorite customers.”
He added: “It is important to stress that we would never recommend removal of a hydraulic hose or other hydraulic equipment by unqualified staff and would ask customers to consult a hydraulics specialist if unsure.”
