Due to the nature of design in manufacturing companies, there is no one standard CAD, visualisation or publishing system, according to Theorem. Manufacturers and their supply chains often have different systems in place, sometimes within the same four walls of the company. Each of these has particular nuances and they store their design information in widely differing formats.
It adds that as technology has evolved and the performance capabilities of computers has dramatically improved, a much wider set of use cases and applications have become commercially and technically viable. However, these different use cases and applications require different types of 3D data in order to work. Sometimes the differences in the 3D data are subtle; in other cases the differences are significant.
Translation is the enabler that allows all of the different types of 3D data to be created; this is Theorem’s speciality.
Theorem’s new brands are now defined as follows:
- CADverter, flagship of Theorem Solutions for over 20 years, has a product focus specifically on the direct translation of 3D data to or from an alternate mechanical CAD or standards-based format. CADverter products translate assembly structure, geometry, attributes, and where available 3D product manufacturing information (PMI), functional tolerance annotation (FTA), geometrical dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T) and metadata, between multiple mechanical CAD/CAM systems.
- Multi-CAD is a solution to problems that can be encountered when a CATIA V5 or V6 user needs to work on projects where other CAD or Visualization data needs to be regularly used inside of CATIA (from Dassault Systèmes). Multi-CAD ensures the integrity of the CAD data by taking away the need for external translation. Multi-CAD products support the introduction of assembly structure, geometry, attributes, 3D product manufacturing information and metadata from foreign CAD and visualization data.
- Publish 3D enables the creation of documents enriched with 3D content directly from the native source CAD or JT data. The products focus specifically on the publishing of 3D mechanical CAD and visualisation data into an interactive document format for users that may not have access to or understanding of CAD data.
- Visualize 3D offers direct translation of 3D data from mechanical CAD systems for users of digital mockup, virtual reality or desktop applications.The Visualize 3D brand supports the lightweight data formats: 3DXML, Creo View and JT.
- Process Automation solutions manage and automate the process of creating, sharing and exchanging data with suppliers and customers to aid the collaboration process. The solutions manage high volumes of data transfer and translation to and from varying formats for different design disciplines or document creation, streamlining workflows and eliminating repetitive manual work whilst at that same time enforcing consistency.
