The award is made by Greengage Solutions, specialists in environmental sustainability in the events and travel sector. Assessors looked at a wide range of measures including energy and water conservation, waste management and recycling, eco-friendly rooms and facilities, sustainable food and drink offerings, and corporate and social responsibility.
MTC Events, based in the MTC's Advanced Manufacturing Training Centre, hosts events for major manufacturers and business organisations.
MTC group marketing director Richard Watkins said, "We are delighted to have been awarded Gold accreditation for our approach to the environment at MTC Events.
"The events industry can create waste and have a negative impact on the environment so it’s vital that we address our responsibilities. We have gone to great lengths to minimise our environmental impact and we actively support event organisers with green practices."
