Says Hill: “We moved to the new premises in May and everything is now in place apart from our pending approval for AS9100 accreditation. We have already received very positive comments from certain future customers on our capability, skill set and especially what has been achieved.”
Careful preplanning for the relocation paid-off as it took just three days to move and reinstall the five Mazak bar fed lathes which have up to 52 mm bar capacity and 300 mm chucking size, plus three YCM and five Bridgeport 3-, 4- and 5-axis machining centres. Also, the new temperature controlled metrology centre was set up with two CMMs plus a new ultrasonic cleaning machine, electromagnetic deburring, finishing and polishing facility, as well as offices, compressor room, tooling, material, finished part stores, packing and despatch and a fully fitted-out staff room. There are currently 20 people employed with 14 highly skilled in programming, setting and machining on the shop floor.
Hill explains how the new company name came about: “We debated names and wanted to link making things with precision and perfection and we came right back to the term ‘engineer’. So, this led to internet searching and the link to the French term.”
The move now facilitates a major strategic plank within the company’s current plans for expansion into the aerospace sub-contracting sector.
