Soraluce expands factory and machine range

Spanish machine tool maker Soraluce is investing €5 million in extending its factory to support the expansion of its range of large machining centres.

The machines will be targeted at sectors such as power generation, shipbuilding and general mechanics, with the company aiming to offer high power milling-boring machines with more than 6 m of vertical travel. The Gipuzkoa, Basque Country-based company, part of the Danobat Group and a member of the Mondragon Corporation, a co-operative organisation, is erecting a new 2,000 sq m building, 14 m high, which will become operational in June this year. Last year was the company’s 20th anniversary and it reported a 35 per cent increase in turnover, with exports accounting for 90 per cent of its production. Also during last year, the company established a machining workshop for the wind power sector in co-operation with a foundry, Sakana, which is located just north of Pamplona.
