A UK torque tools specialist has been acquired by an American designer, manufacturer and marketer of high-end tools and equipment, it has been announced.

The Norbar Torque Tools group of companies (Norbar), their wholly owned companies in India and Singapore, and joint ventures in the USA and China, have been acquired by Snap-on Incorporated of Kenosha, Wisconsin, USA.

Norbar was incorporated in 1943 and has since been owned and managed by descendants of the founder, William Brodey, with four members of the third generation family currently operating the business. The primary office and factory location is in Banbury, UK.

The Brodey family has now decided to accept Snap-on’s acquisition offer as an opportunity to significantly expand sales. They will continue to manage the company as part of the Snap-on team.

Says managing director Neill Brodey: “There has always been great mutual respect between the two management teams, based upon a shared ethos and commitment to delivering the highest standards of technical products and services. These shared values make Snap-on a natural partner for Norbar.”
