Grinding machine specialist Schneeberger is reporting order intake growth of over 46 per cent during the last quarter, and the best year’s trading in the UK since the Measham-based subsidiary was founded. Orders have come from the company’s traditional markets, with the aerospace, tool and cutter, plastics and woodworking each making a significant contribution to the increase in orders. Machine supplied include a number of the heavy duty Corvus broach grinding machine and the popular Norma tool and cutter grinder (pictured). “UK manufacturing industry is demanding more than just a machine,” said general manager Chris Harford. “Schneeberger has proved over and over again the excellence of its application engineering ability. This is important to all customers, but is crucial for the very competitive – and often very complex – tool and cutter sector of the engineering industry. Customers ranging from those making special tools to those manufacturing primarily standard ranges have found our application engineers are able to give them the competitive edge, and the improved profitability, they need”. Jeremy Ridgeley, director of customer Thames Valley Saws said: “The Schneeberger was our only choice. It is the only tool and cutter grinder which gives us absolute flexibility combined with complete accessibility to its capabilities. “We needed a machine which could deliver that flexibility but, more importantly, we needed the machine supplier to be equally as flexible. Schneeberger were the only company which could demonstrate that all-round capability: even under the pressure of exhibition conditions, it was willing and able to demonstrate the machine to us using a one-off tool of our own. We did not find any other company prepared to do that”.
