Rubix UK has completed the acquisition of Peter Campbell Sales Ltd, a leading specialist supplier of metalcutting tools that offers bespoke manufactured solutions across oil and gas, aerospace and defence, automotive and precision machining sectors.

Operating from two sites between Airdrie, Scotland, and North East England, PCS also manages around 70 industrial vending machines for its customers, with sales of £8m in the last 12 months.

With this acquisition, Rubix UK says it has the opportunity to consolidate its leadership in the UK specialist cutting tools market – a key growth area for the UK business – following the acquisition of Matrix Tooling Services in 2018. PCS also brings a new speciality to Rubix – special tools manufacturing and tool regrinding services. In addition, the acquisition will further strengthen Rubix’s expertise and experience in the UK oil and gas, and aerospace sectors.

PCS will continue to operate independently to Brammer Buck & Hickman and alongside Matrix Tooling Services. Andy Jeffrey will continue in his role as managing director of PCS and will report to Nigel Banks, Rubix UK managing director, Services Division.

Mark Dixon, CEO Rubix UK, said: “This acquisition supports our ambition to be recognised as a preferred supplier with the technical expertise and network in place to provide a multi-specialist range of products, services and solutions. It is further evidence of our status as the consolidator of choice for the industrial distribution market in Europe.”

Rubix is Europe’s largest supplier of industrial maintenance, repair and overhaul products and services. It was created from the merger of IPH with Brammer in 2017, following the acquisition of Brammer by Advent International.

From around 650+ locations across 23 countries, 8,000 employees help to identify, install and provide a leading range of industrial products and services to more than 20,000 customers. The business had combined sales of €2.3bn in 2018 and is Europe’s leading distributor in bearings, transmission and automation, fluid power, machining, assembly, tools and protective equipment.

Brands include: Biesheuvel Techniek, Brammer, Brammer Buck & Hickman, Matrix Tooling Services, Giner, Julsa, Kistenpfennig, Minetti, Montalpina, Novotech, Orexad, Robod, Syresa, and Zitec.
