Dundee-based PressureFab has acquired stainless steel manufacturer RT Metal Services, based in Abroath.

PressureFab is a leading designer and fabricator of specialist certified offshore equipment, such as containers, topside modules, reelers, tanks, filtration systems, and modular systems, for use in the oil and gas industry. Hermann Twickler (left), managing director of PressureFab, said: "We welcome the addition of RT Metal Services to our group of companies, as it will strengthen our stainless steel division by adding to our existing skill base. As a result, we are confident that this will open up opportunities with new and current customers for the manufacture of piping and vessels out of stainless steel, duplex, and Inconel materials. "We also are pleased to secure the 12 existing jobs at RT Metal Services and plan to merge these highly skilled and productive employees with our own stainless steel division and move it into a better suited state-of-the-art facility." Tom Smith (right), managing director, RT Metal Services, responded: "Although I am looking forward to my retirement, I know I'll really miss the great staff at RT Metal Services. I believe that the company and staff will be in good hands with Hermann, and am also very excited at the prospect of him bringing the same type of rapid growth to RT that he has brought to PressureFab." Reaching an annual turnover of nearly £6 million in 2012, PressureFab has more than doubled year on year since its inception. The acquisition of RT Metal Services represents PressureFab's diversified strategy to grow the company through acquisitions, in addition to its own rapid organic growth. Mr Twickler concluded: "We look forward to further acquisitions of complementary businesses in the near future. With the acquisition of RT Metal Services, combined with our current turnover, PressureFab is on track to exceed its target of £10 million for 2013."
