PP Profiles installs first Koike plasma cutting unit in UK

St Helens-based PP Profiles has taken delivery of the UK's first Koike plasma cutting unit, an investment of £350,000, which will deliver customer benefits.

Japanese machinery manufacturer Koike is currently finishing the installation of the Versagraph 4500 facility with 3D-Link, which employs latest cutting technology to offer contour and bevel cutting up to 10 m by 3 m by 40 mm up to 45°. With the introduction of new technology to PP Profiles manufacturing process, taper angles and cut degradation, inherent in conventional plasma cutting machines, has been eliminated. The Versagraph incorporates an advanced filtration and cooling system, actively delivering cool air and fluid to the cutting head, minimising deformity of the cutting surfaces upper edge. The technology Koike uses to achieve itys high quality cuts is patented, offering PP Profiles' customers what are claimed as unique benefits. The installation of the machine will offer clients a reduction in the need for additional machining and material handling. Managing director Mark Derbyshire explains: "With the installation of the new facility, our clients ultimately save time and money, as subcontract processes have been condensed into the initial cutting stage."
