Part of Airbus A350 to be assembled in China

Airbus expects to sign an agreement soon to build part of its mid-sized A350 airliner in that country, reports Reuters.

Laurence Barron, chief of Airbus China said that the aircraft maker was in negotiations to partially build the aircraft in China starting in 2010. He expected the deal to be signed by the end of the year. Airbus said in October that it would eventually get about half of its components from suppliers outside Europe - double the current level - to boost its global reach and cut costs. It said it was looking to outsource manufacturing to China, Russia and Japan.
