One Victor leads to another for Picross Precision

Picross Precision Engineering has extended its use of Victor machines with the purchase of a Vcenter 70, a heavy duty vertical machining centre.

The machining centre has an 800 by 460 mm work table capable of handling up to 500 kg. Travels in X, Y and Z axes are 700, 480 and 510 mm respectively with rapid feed rates of 30, 30 and 24 m/min. The purchase follows a long tradition of Victor machines at Picross Precision which started after a trip to a MACH exhibition, soon after the company was formed in 1978. A chance visit to the Victor Europe stand by Picross Precision's founder and managing director David Patfield led to the purchase of the company's first machine tool, a Victor TNS 2 with Fanuc 10TF Control. As the burgeoning company grew, further Victor lathe and machining centre acquisitions were made, resulting in Picross Precision Engineering now boasting 21 Victor machine tools, 11 Vturn CNC lathes and 10 Vcenter machining centres. Mr Patfield says: "The fact that over the past three decades, I have continuously returned to Victor for further machine tools, speaks volumes about the sterling service Victor products have given to Picross Precision Engineering. Our comprehensive collection of Victor machining centres and CNC lathes has proven to be both highly productive and extremely reliable. On the rare occasion that we have needed help, Victor have responded rapidly to our needs." Picross Precision occupies a high-tech 15,000 ft² production facility, based in Eastbourne, East Sussex, and is a BS EN ISO 9001:2000 registered company.
