NPE makes significant investment in Mazak machining centre

Northern Precision Engineering (NPE), the Wallsend-based subcontractor, has invested almost £250,000 in a Mazak 5-axis vertical machining centre.

The Mazak VTC 800/30SR greatly enhances NPE's capability as it continues to gain market share in the medium sized engineering sector. It replaces two other machines, essentially combining them into one, without any loss of capacity: instead increasing significantly the company's manufacturing flexibility. NPE business development director, Dave Graham (left in image with operations director John Myhill), commented: "At NPE we constantly strive to improve our service offering across the board and to do so requires ongoing investment in many areas of the business, with a key focus on plant and equipment. The arrival of this latest piece of technology not only increases our capacity and versatility, it also supports our plans to enter into new markets such as the renewable energy sector." "We have a number of operatives who have already undergone both off-site and on-site training so that the machine is fully operational with immediate effect as we had secured contracts ahead of the purchase. However, we will be looking to recruit further by appointing a number of CNC trained millers and turners."
