Leading supplier of machine vision systems and industrial identification Cognex and robot manufacturer Stäubli have signed a partner agreement with the aim of promoting vision-enabled robot solutions.

Machine vision is used in a growing number of robotic applications and allows significant increased productivity. “This agreement formalises years of casual co-operation and is an important step in our robotic strategy,” said Patrice Denizard, director of sales for Cognex, France. “It complements several initiatives taken in In-Sight product development, notably PatMax, an industry-leading geometric pattern matching software for location of form and form recognition, supported by the remote head version of the In-Sight 5000 series which is compatible with standard robotic cables and connections. This association with Stäubli will ensure our ability to develop in this rapidly expanding market of vision guided robots (VGR).” Staubli has an established reputation in the machine tool industry for parts handling with its products used by Ernault, France; Biglia, Italy; Heller, Junker and Index, Germany; Brother, Nakamura-Tome and Yamazaki in Japan; Mikron (rotary transfer machines), Switzerland.
