A new sub-contract laser marking company has been set up, offering a service across a wide range of applications and products.

The company, Laser Mark Solutions based in Knottingley, W Yorkshire has been set up by Dominick Watson. The first major decision for the company was to choose a laser marking system, and the company opted for the EasyMark system from Rofin-Baasel. Mr Watson explained: “We needed to have a system which was not only compact and highly flexible, but also extremely reliable as the whole business will initially be based around this first system, so the EasyMark system from Rofin-Baasel was our first choice. “Another important factor in our decision making process was being able to draw on the extensive laser marking applications knowledge which Rofin make available as part of their comprehensive after sales suppor.” The EasyMark system uses a diode-pumped Nd:YVO4 laser source and is capable of marking a wide range of materials including metal and plastic components. The unit purchased by Laser Mark Solutions also has an optional rotary axis providing further flexibility for marking cylindrical components. With a marking field of 120 mm by 120 mm and the capacity to accommodate components up to 450 mm by 150mm by 200 mm in size.
