Excel Precision (WSE) has been awarded Merit status for its EDM process in the Nadcap aerospace accreditation scheme.

The special recognition has earned the company an extra two years of accredited status, until 31 January 2017, in addition to the one-year period normally granted. The accreditation is for special process AC7116/3 Rev B for Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) for Wire & Spark Erosion. Excel Precision (Wire Spark Erosion), which has facilities in Gloucester and Milton Keynes, says it was proud to receive the award. It has held Nadcap accreditation since 2009. Earlier this year, it received delivery of an Agie Charmilles Cut 300 wire erosion machine and a Form 300 spark erosion machine, together worth £250,000. Joe Pinto, executive vice president and chief operating officer at Nadcap management body the Performance Review Institute, says: "Benefiting from a less frequent audit schedule reduces audit costs and associated pressures and demonstrates the trust that the aerospace industry has in Excel Precision (WSE) Ltd, based on their past performance in Nadcap audits."
