Multitasking mill-turn from Okuma on show at MACH (stand 5310)

1 min read

In addition to its Makino-themed stand next door, NCMT is showing for the first time at a national exhibition in the UK the Okuma Multus U4000 multi-tasking mill-turn centre.

The U4000 is designed for the complete machining of workpieces up to 2 m long and 650 mm in diameter (a smaller U3000 offers up to 1,500 mm between centres).

The variant exhibited will be the single tool carrier model, Multus U4000 1SC, with a 22 kW, 12,000 rpm motor spindle that develops 120 Nm of torque incorporated within the B-axis. The spindle uses the HSK-A63 tool interface (optionally Capto C6), has 0.001° indexing and swivels through -30 to +210°. The tool magazine has 40 stations as standard; 80- and 120-position options are also available.

In tests, thermal deviation was less than 10 micron over a 24-hour period, despite an 8 °C variation in ambient temperature. The fitted OSP-P300 control offers comprehensive collision prediction and avoidance.

The Okuma entry-level Genos range L200E-MY turning centre will be shown. Capacity is 200 mm diameter by 380 mm long. An entry-level Genos M560-V vertical machining centre will also be present. Capacity is 1,050 by 560 by 460 mm (X, Y, Z).
