The use of cutting edge laser technologies has the potential to make huge strides in UK manufacturing productivity, according to laser processing experts at the Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC).

Now the MTC is opening up its doors to showcase the latest laser technologies at the Laser Matters 2022 conference which will be held at the MTC on September 14.

The free-to-attend event is aimed at encouraging businesses to explore the very latest laser technologies to boost the effectiveness of their organisations, and to show off the latest state-of-the-art lasers in action. The event will bring together industry and research institutions to explore how to take laser processing forward.

Some of the latest advanced laser processing capabilities will be showcased including a new industrial scale robotic cell equipped with a 10kW fibre laser, a state-of-the-art waterjet guided laser machine and a powerful 300W picosecond laser.

MTC technology manager Tian Long See said the centre is one of the leading laser research and development facilities in the UK with more than 30 acknowledged laser experts in various fields of laser processing. In addition, the centre collaborates with a wide range of partner organisations across the country and around the world to address the challenges of technology adoption.

"Delegates to the conference will be able to see the latest laser technology advancement, understand how the technology can boost productivity and effectiveness and meet laser industry leaders and early adopters to discuss the potential for their businesses," he said.

"This is a great opportunity to explore the world of laser technologies and understand how it can help manufacturing businesses in many ways by speaking to one of our engineers at the event," he added.
