More manufacturing companies taking on staff

The latest MTA's monthly survey of members shows a positive swing in the number of manufacturing technology companies taking on new staff, with nearly a quarter of respondents reporting an increase in employment compared to last month. In addition, order intake grew by over 12%, taking the orders measure to the highest level since the survey began.

MTA's February survey reports almost 25% of respondents increasing the number of people employed, and the strongest balance for this question since the survey started nearly two years ago. Net order intake recorded a month-on-month increase in February too, with this continued growth recording a new high for this measure. And, although invoiced sales were slightly lower than in January, the actual results show that the majority of companies reported an increase of at least 20% in invoiced sales. Not surprisingly, business confidence is running at a high level, buoyed by the high level of inquiries which was significantly greater than in January, and at its highest level since June 2010.
