Mollart Engineering has secured further major orders for its subcontract machining operations in Chessington and Resolven, South Wales, just days after winning the HSBC Business Thinking Award – South Eastern Region, which puts Mollart Engineering forward for a place in the bank's national finals.

These orders, from semiconductor, oil field exploration and telecoms sectors, will expand contracted orders by a massive 62% to reach £8 million by the company's financial year end in March 2012. "These orders are certainly significant increases for what are very complex and high value components used in critical applications that cannot tolerate failure in the field," said managing director Guy Mollart. "With the accolade of being regional finalist in the HSBC Award behind us, we now have an even stronger case in the national finals, where we will face major UK competition." The new machining contracts are to meet increased demands from existing customers, and include subsea fibre optic casings to carry signal amplification units for telephone cables between Miami and Rio de Janeiro. The oil field exploration tools will be supplied to many of the major oil companies in support of the industry's demands to expand new oil field potential.
